John Wall boasts to Wizards fans: ‘This is still my city’

John Wall and the Los Angeles Clippers visited the Washington Wizards on Saturday. It was Wall’s first game at Capital One Arena with fans in attendance since the Wizards traded him in 2020.

There was a lot of anticipation for Wall’s return, as he spent nine seasons as the Wizards’ cornerstone. During the game, the Wizards displayed a video tribute, prompting fans to give Wall a standing ovation.

The energy was high as fans cheered nearly each time Wall touched the basketball. Then in the second quarter, Wall pushed the fast break before pulling up and knocking down a jumper over Wizards guard Corey Kispert.

Wall’s jumper capped a 9-0 run by the Clippers. The moment also ignited the arena. Wall yelled, “This is still my city” as the pro-Wall crowd erupted in cheers.

Following the Clippers’ 114-107 win, Wall explained he felt he was still in a Wizards jersey.

“In that moment and electrifying the crowd, that’s what I’ve been doing for a lot of years in my career when I was here,” Wall said, per Hoop District. “To see the crowd stand up, I’m like ‘damn I might feel like I’m still in a Wizards jersey now.’ It was
a dope moment for me.”

Wall had an otherwise pedestrian night on the court. He finished with 13 points on 5-of-13 shooting and three assists. Yet, Wall and the Clippers picked up the victory by a 114-107 score.

Paul George led the way with 36 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. However, the night belonged to Wall, who reminded D.C., the city is still his.
