Dodgers' Justin Turner out for remainder of Giants series with abdominal injury

The Los Angeles Dodgers pulled infielder Justin Turner from Friday night's game against the San Francisco Giants with an abdominal injury. Now, it appears he'll miss even more time.

On Saturday, manager Dave Roberts said Turner would sit out the final two games of a four-game set with the Giants and could be placed on the injured list.

Turner said he felt better on Saturday and hopes to resume baseball activities on Sunday. He described the injury as a "little inflammation" causing pain near the sternum on the inside of his ribcage.

In his ninth year wearing the Dodger blue, Turner is batting .253/.328/.403 with eight home runs and 53 RBI over 85 games.

Turner had been on a tear before going down with an abdominal injury. Over his last 10 games, Turner is batting .343/.452/.486 with a home run, nine RBI and five walks.

The 37-year-old made the All-Star team in 2021, finishing the year batting .278/.361/.471 with 27 home runs and 87 RBI.

In Turner's absence, Max Muncy was penciled in as the starter at third base on Saturday.

This season, the 31-year-old Muncy is batting .155/.311/.306 with nine home runs and 30 RBI in 75 games.
