Diamondbacks’ Kevin Ginkel Dealing with Right Elbow Soreness
Joe Rondone/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK

With the Diamondbacks’ offseason condensed to just over three months, the emergence of some injuries was anticipated as pitchers and catchers reported.

Kevin Ginkel is the first player to be affected, grappling with right elbow soreness, as disclosed by skipper Torey Lovullo.

Though x-rays returned clear, Ginkel is expected to approach spring training cautiously.

Heading into his 6th year in the league, Ginkel is coming off a stellar 2023 season, where he boasted a 9-1 record and a 2.48 ERA, solidifying his role as a key reliever in the Dbacks bullpen.

In the postseason, Ginkel elevated his performance even further. Despite lacking prior October experience, he did not surrender a single run over 11.2 innings of work.

This included pivotal moments where Ginkel navigated the Diamondbacks out of tight situations, such as in Game 7 of the NLCS, when he entered the game with runners on 1st and 2nd with just one out.

Ginkel induced pop-outs from Trea Turner and Bryce Harper before striking out the side in the bottom of the 8th inning, bringing the Diamondbacks within three outs of a World Series berth.

Stay tuned for further updates on the extent of Kevin Ginkel’s injury.
