Owen Wilson gives promising update on rumored 'Wedding Crashers 2'

It's wedding season, and Wedding Crashers 2 may just be right on schedule.

"I don't think it's 100 percent," Owen Wilson told Yahoo's Ethan Alter when asked about a possible and recently heavily rumored sequel to the 2005 romantic comedy, with an emphasis on comedy. "But they're definitely talking about doing it."

The Oscar-nominated actor continued: "You never know when you work on something how it’s going to turn out, and that one just really connected with people. It made a big difference in my life. So, I have great memories of it, and then just working with Vince and how great he is, so that's always an exciting idea."

The rumor mill heated up when Production Weekly included Wedding Crashers 2 on its list of 124 upcoming titles, as captured below:

According to Production Weekly , the sequel will return Wilson, Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Isla Fisher as well as director David Dobkin. Filming is allegedly scheduled to begin in Puerto Rico this August.

Wedding Crashers starred Wilson and Vaughn as John Beckwith and Jeremy Grey respectively—two bachelors who target random weddings as a way to land more and more women.

Vaughn stoked the Wedding Crashers 2 fire last November, also in conversation with Yahoo: "Just recently, we've been more seriously discussing a sequel to Crashers, [Owen Wilson] and myself and the director and a producer. There’s an idea that’s a good idea … for the first time, there's kind of an original thought."

But even before that, last summer, Will Ferrell confirmed to E! that a sequel was "being written," while McAdams told the outlet that "it'd be nice to go back and have a romp," and Dobkin revealed what a plot might look like to Entertainment Weekly:

"I had an idea that really stuck in my mind. Ten or more years later, all of a sudden these guys are in their mid to late 40s and they end up single — what do they do? That’s interesting to me, because I know guys in their mid to late 40s who have ended up single, whether it’s out of marriages that didn’t work out or they just didn’t find anyone to marry, and it’s a head trip for men, the idea of maybe I’m not going to be a dad, maybe I’m not going to be married. So it became a real cultural question and it yielded an interesting kind of center to the movie."

There is no way of knowing if that is the direction Wedding Crashers 2 would go, but so long as it's proven true that there will indeed be a Wedding Crashers 2 at all, fans will likely be happy.
